Battery Watering Systems
In order to ensure your battery continues to perform at optimum levels, and its life expectancy is maximised, it is essential that it is maintained correctly. One key element of this maintenance is ensuring that the battery has the correct levels of electrolyte at all times and as such it is important to 'top up' the cells after each full charge cycle. If cells are not topped up after charging, the tops of the plates may become exposed to air which will result in an instant loss of capacity. If this is the case the damage could be irreversible. The acid in the battery will also become more concentrated and this could cause further damage and ultimately affect the lifespan of the battery.
You should also be careful not to put too much water in the cells as this can cause electrolyte to boil over and spill out when the battery is next put on charge. If this happens acid will leak from the battery creating health and safety issues, possibly even injury and potentially damaging equipment. Overall the battery's capacity will be affected which could lead to shorter run times and increased downtime.
An automatic battery watering system would eliminate all risks and problems as it makes the topping up process very quick and easy. You just need to connect the system to your deionized water supply and the electrolyte levels will be topped up to the correct levels in no time.

There is very little requirement for operator input and no need to remove caps by hand or water cells manually. In fact, as the entire process usually takes just a couple of minutes, it means you or your engineers can spend more time working on other things.

Air Agitation Systems
All flooded lead acid batteries (PZB and PZS) are susceptible to acid stratification which occurs during the charging process. Air mixing systems circulate electrolyte within the cells to prevent this from happening. Fitting an air mixing system to your battery not only prevents acid stratification, it also:
- Reduces charging time and increases charging efficiency.
- Reduces energy and water consumption, thereby reducing costs.
- Extends battery life.
- Decreases battery downtime
Water Level Monitors
In order to maximise the lifespan of your battery it is essential that it's electrolyte levels are maintained correctly. Installing a Water Level Monitor can make this process much easier as it will advise you when the battery needs to be topped up. The Water Level Monitor is fitted with an LED which lights up in green if the electrolyte levels are ok. When the battery needs topping up the LED will turn red thereby drawing your attention to the fact that action needs to be taken. Fitting a Water Level Monitor can save time and money by ensuring batteries are only topped up when necessary.
Battery monitoring systems are a great asset when it comes to the maintenance of your batteries. They continuously monitor each cell within the battery and provide you with essential information such as when:
- Cells need to be topped up.
- The battery needs to be charged.
- The overall temperature of the battery exceeds a certain level.
The battery monitoring system communicates this information via coloured LEDs. This means that users can do a simple visual check of the battery and quickly determine whether it needs any attention. By reacting to the information provided by the Battery Monitoring System, battery life can be maximised and downtime can be kept to a minimum.
